Winter/Holiday 24

Many folks ask where the name "Manresa" comes from.

I'm from Norwalk, Connecticut. I working class town on the south coast of CT that has a large oystering and clamming industry. My father comes from East Norwalk, where I learned to swim and row boats at the mouth of the Norwalk river. On the other side of the channel stands a monolithic decommissioned power plant, which was constructed on one of the many Norwalk islands. This particular island was called Manresa Island (named after the catholic missionaries from Manresa Spain who bought the island for retreats in the 60s). However for us kids hopping around on the islands fishing and wake boarding, and getting into trouble on the other islands, we always just referred to the building as Manresa.

Recently a young tech billionaire who lives around the corner bought the property away from a development company who was going to knock down the structure and put home luxury housing. Instead, this young Bruce Wayne type is going to turn the area into public beaches, wildlife refuge, learning and retail spaces, and tourism destinations. For a kid who grew up admiring this building, it was a dream come true to be allowed into the building by this man to shoot this lookbook.

As for the clothes we learned even more about what makes a garment wearable/sellable. Apparently folks (some folks) dont like knee and elbow patches. NOTED. But you still love Bittner coats and camo. Oh and you guys really fuck with Japanese low twist flannel lined vest. Thanks for that. More soon!
