Making selvedge is difficult. It will take my entire life, plus some, to get really great at making them. It requires machines and sewing skills that have, for the most part, been abandoned for newer "more efficient" techniques. Selvedge denim is the plutonic idea of what Americana fashion should be. It's not about speed, efficiency, or profit maximization. It's valuable for being the complete opposite. Slowing down and instead of cutting corners and making a high margin product, creating an impeccably made product that respects it's heritage. In a time where durability and craft have been traded for cheap, throw away products, we're happy to now be a part of the counter culture. And while we do truly respect the old ways of doing things, I'm just partial to a zipper fly. So instead of the traditional shank button closure, were running antique brass YKK zippers. Sue me.

It was important for us to also make these in New England. Instead of partnering with a selvedge specialist out in Cali or NYC, we opted to invest in rebuilding the New England garment industry. It took a lot of time and a lot of money but we're proud of the product and we stand behind it. This batch is constructed of a slightly heavier than average 14.5 Japanese Nihon Menpu selvedge. The natural indigo is dyed very deeply with a red cast. It being slightly heavier than average you can expect the fades to be a little bit more contrasted and severe when properly cared for.
