14.5oz. Japanese indigo raw selvedge sanforized denim from Nihon Menpu. Reinforced, corded belt loops sewn into the waistband for extra durability, triple needle seams, durable palaka plaid indigo pocketing which is also used to reinforce the bottom half of the back pocket (that triple needle arcuate isn't just for looks). Veg tan leather patch, with matching veg tan leather washer which reinforces the button shank on the waistband. Finished off with a YKK Excella #5 antique brass zipper that glides as smooth as butter. All built in a relaxed seat, classic straight cut (mild taper), with a slightly higher than average rise. These would have looked great 50 years ago and they'll look great 50 years from now. A classic. That's why it's our only cut.

I could make this description ten chapters long, bind it, and sell it in Barnes & Noble. And while that now actually sounds like a good idea and I'm totally going to do that, I'd like to keep this brief (that's not going to happen either).

I spent four years of my life falling down the endless, nuanced and incredibly intimidating world of selvedge denim, all in the hopes of learning every rule there is, and thoughtfully deciding where to bend, break, or remain faithful to those rules. Countless hours on youtube, forums, reading books, taking apart vintage references, dialing in machines, breaking them and dialing them in again, engaging with the community and learning from the folks who have been doing this for decades. We did that.

The added difficulty of being our own manufacturer, and not just sending a tech pack off to an established factory, but learning, down to the smallest detail, exactly how to execute our vision, was an experience that drove me right to the edge of madness, but eventually taught me more than I ever thought I could know about crafting special products.

Long story short, I designed, drafted a pattern from scratch, cut and sewed these jeans myself. It took 12 different machines, and countless repetitions at every operation. Every stitch was a decision. We tweaked, sampled and tweaked again. I lost count.

In the end we have a perfect (for us) pair of relaxed fit, straight cut pair of super durable jeans, with a rise on the higher side of average. With so many easter eggs for denim nerds that we can't list them all here. I think those details are better left for the wearer to discover. We put our heart and sole in this jean. It's our only cut, because it's timeless. We know that you will love them like we do. Guaranteed for life as always.

Model is 5'11", 180 lbs., wearing a 32" waist and a 30" hem. The Denim is Sanforized for shrink control. We recommend buying the size the will fit snug at first, as the denim will relax and stretch with repeated wear.
